British researchers have found out that additional intake of the common vegetables like spinach, broccoli or cabbage reduces the risk of incurring type 2 diabetes. The percentage is high, approximately 14%.

This comes as a result of their reviews of six earlier studies conducted which tackled the link between diabetes and vegetable consumption. These six studies covered around 200,000 people with ages between 30 and 75 years old. The people surveyed were from the US, China and Finland.

The findings, however, do not really pinpoint that it is the vegetables themselves that prevent the diabetes. More often than not, it is just the mere fact that those people who eat vegetables are the same ones who practice good eating habits and have healthy diets. It may just be a side effect of their proper exercise and nutrition and not really the direct effect of the veggies.

Researcher Patrice Carter thinks otherwise though. She says that the data really points to green leafy vegetables as the key to preventing diabetes. Currently, she is a member of the diabetes research unit at Leicester University. According to her, fruits and vegetables are indeed good but green leafy vegetables prove to be intriguing. This is the very reason why they are investigating these products even more.
The exact dosage increase of green leafy vegetables which provides a 14% increase in resistance is an added 1.15 servings a day.

RA causes joints to swell, stiffen, and become quite painful. The disease is the result of an overactive immune system believing that the joint system is ill causing it to attack the joint linings causing inflammation.

Researchers still do not completely understand the process that causes RA to develop although genes, lifestyle, and other isolated factors in environment are thought to play a role. For example, previous studies have pointed towards smoking as a risk factor in developing RA while drinking on a regular basis may decrease the risks. Studies performed on mice also suggest that alcohol consumption may help keep the full effects of RA at bay.

In order to take a closer look at alcohol’s effect on the body, researchers performed a study that looked at 1,004 people who have the disease and 873 people who do not. They asked the participants of the study what their drinking habits were and how many days out of the last month they had consumed a drink. In those that had RA in the study, they also used x-rays, questionnaires, and blood tests to determine how progressed the disease was.

Overall, the study determined that those who did not consume alcohol were over twice as likely to suffer from RA.

Trans-fats are chemically manipulated vegetable oils, which are used to lengthen the shelf life of food products like pastries, cakes, pies, fast food, and chips but hold no nutritional value.

Authors from the magazine claim that too much trans-fat in a diet can lead to high levels of bad cholesterol and also cause insulin resistance, weight gain, and an irregular heartbeat. They also have stated that if the consumption of trans-fats was reduced by one percent in England 7,000 less people would die and 11,000 heart attacks could be prevented.

New York, California, Denmark, Austria, and Switzerland have already banned trans-fats.

The Food Standards Agency is not worried about trans-fat consumption in the UK because it only makes up about one percent of the total energy intake and is thus not concerning.

The FSA carried out a review of trans-fats in 2007 and stated that they believe their current stance that the food industry should choose to voluntarily move away from trans-fats is working and there is no need to create a law to enforce its removal.

Care Advisor at Diabetes UK, Libby Dowling, stated that they encourage people to keep a balanced diet that is low in fat and that the encouragement of the food industry by the FSA to stop selling items with trans-fat is welcome.

The results came along with a new study by the Department of Health that found lifestyle diseases are on the rise in stunning rates.
In fact, the study found that deaths that are caused by liver disease in England are not only increasing, but are above the average across Europe.

According to the former study, conducted by the British Liver Trust, the most popular drink among the women surveyed was wine, although 66% of those surveyed could not name how many units of wine were in one glass. Traditionally, a 250ml glass of wine will have three units of alcohol although the figure can vary by strength.

Chief executive of the British Liver Trust, Alison Rogers, stated that the survey offered evidence to what the Trust already believed was true, that most people in the key age group are unaware of the units of alcohol that they consume on a regular basis. Rogers also stated that as supermarkets encourage bulk purchasing one of ten respondents do not allow their liver a day off from drinking.

She added that it is at least safe to state that most women over the age of 35 are still part of the ‘binge drinking’ scene although a few do still pertain in the culture.

If you feel that you are suffering on your diet, you may want to read through the following and see if you can scratch some old habits off your list because many hard and fast health rules are now seeing a new light.

First on the list is the long dreaded egg which has been thought to raise cholesterol levels forcing many people to skip out on eggs altogether. Its true eggs do have cholesterol in them, but our bodies vary the amount it produces every day and will produce less if an egg is consumed. Thus, there is no harm in consuming eggs on a regular basis and given they are low in calories and contain vitamin B-12 and vitamin D it may be a good idea to reintroduce the snack to your health.

Next is that margarine is bad for the heart. In the past this was true because the yellow creamy substance was packed with trans fats, but now most margarines are formulated with healthy mono-unsaturated and poly unsaturated fats making them a much better heart friendly option over butter.

Finally, it turns out you can eat at night, because your body will burn off the same amount of calories regardless of when you ate. A study on monkeys showed that they maintained the same weight regardless of how much they eat at night, so feel free to eat later in the day but keep in mind your overall caloric intake for the day.

First of all, low fat foods do not really help you lose weight even if it seems that logically they should. This is due to the fact that many times low fat foods still have the same high calorie content as other foods, which means that you are still overall consuming the same amount of food. Calorie content is what you should be looking at, not the fat content.

Next up on the list are blueberries, which have long been hailed as the superior fruit because they contain a large amount of anti-oxidants. However, blueberries are one of the fruits on the top of scale but they only have one anti-oxidant, which is also in fruits that are cheaper such as red grapes and some foods such as dark chocolate have more anti-oxidants making them a better choice.

The next one may brighten your day starting in the morning, because it turns out that coffee does not dehydrate the body because regular drinkers adjust to the caffeine intake, which means it is simply another fluid that you consume on a daily basis.

Finally, you may want to pull fruit and vegetables out of the fridge because while you may think it’s the healthy choice, in fact they lose their antioxidant value the longer they are stored in the fridge and are at their peak when at room temperature.

Produce that is immediately processed after it is picked keeps more of its nutrients according to the Institute which means that frozen foods may actually be healthier than fresh produce although most people believe that it is the other way around.

Birds Eye, the frozen food manufacturer, commissioned the study which also showed after 16 days of research the broccoli and cauliflower lost 25% of its nutrients, the peas lost around 15% of its nutrients, the green beans lost 45% of their nutrients, and the carrots lost 10%.

Sarah Schenker, a nutritionist, said that the nutritional content of vegetables starts to wane as soon as they are picked. Thus, by the time that the vegetables are prepared on a plate they are almost devoid of most of their benefits.

However, those without a lot of time to cook and to make immediate use of produce may benefit by choosing to use frozen vegetables which have a higher nutrient level for a longer period of time.

Spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, Keri Gans R.D., stated that vegetables are frozen when they are at their ripest while on the other hand there is no way of knowing at what point in the ripening process fresh produce is harvested.

They followed a science that combines the spiritual and physical food.

Its origins come from the past where nutrition was based on seeds and fruits, in which there is damage to species of living beings and their exploitation and their sacrifices.

This power is based on the combination of food through its chemical compatibility which is reflected especially in the processes of digestion into play where the various digestive enzymes.

The digestive system uses different enzymes depending on the need to digest food, for example when you have to make the digestion of starches and proteins secreted alkaline and acidic juices that are mixed together, giving rise to neutralize the digestion process is interrupted, and not reaching your goal is to take nutrients from these foods. Also causing digestive disorders arising in other diseases affecting the whole body as well.

This science is based many wise men like Socrates, Plato, Pythagoras and Hippocrates above. The latter being the father of medicine vegetariana naturist, medicine was based on healthy food and medicines without side effects. It aims for fresh produce and quality of organic origin. So it is practiced by natural and vegetarian.

The trofología presents no problems, an even more complex science, the science of healing with food is the key ways to combine and time to be done, depending on each patient, their diagnosis and situation, it also depends on the station, food and each person, so each individual focuses on independent.

Ie each patient is considered to have their own personalized therapy. Another advantage is that notions of taking trofología everyone can listen to your therapist if you know or understand their digestions and you feel like the food.

These features are more common in men because they have more testosterone.

Until a few years ago no one knew what was the cause of oily hair. Women try all medical advice and even home remedies to no avail because the greasy hair with no improvement. This is because doctors did not know that the hormones have everything to with greasy hair.

No one imagined that diet is the only useful treatment for oily hair, but Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz had made the great discovery that diet could alter the function of the ovaries.

Normally, women produce small amounts of male hormones (testosterone) from the ovaries. One of the main functions of the male hormones in women is to maintain the desire for sex (libido).

In some cases the ovaries begin to produce excess male hormone (testosterone) causing these women to present with greasy hair symptoms similar to men.

As women usually have less testosterone than men and change can result in symptoms such as hair loss, greasy hair, facial hair, acne and even increase the desire to fight and have sex.

The amount of sugar in the diet can modify the functioning of the ovaries, the more sugar or carbohydrate in the diet the greater the production of testosterone.

So a diet with excessive carbohydrates stimulates the ovaries to produce male hormones, causing greasy hair and all the other symptoms associated with testosterone.

In a few days you will see changes in your hair begin to take effect.
