How someone can look the same as ever but is slowly rescinding to a dark place inside their mind where they live oblivious to the outside world and even those around them. It is only thanks to charities such as the Alzheimers Society that both sufferers and their families receive much needed support and respite. The problem is that with the economy being the way that it is at the moment, charitable donations are at an all time low, and many are in danger of no longer being in a position to offer the care and services that are so badly needed. Every commercial break we see charities practically begging for money to support them and their work, they are tragic to work but unfortunately, until this recession goes away for good it is unlikely to improve. The Alzheimer’s Society, in partnership with Bupa, try a different tack when it comes to fundraising, and try to get people involved rather than just making a phone call with their credit or debit card details. Their flagship walks have become great events where thousands turn out to walk in the memory of somebody, or simply to do a great deed. A new video has been released to promote the next walk taking place, and it asks us the question; who will we be walking with this September? The video shows highlights from past walks and we see ordinary people taking part to raise much needed funding. The place to go to register your interest is memorywalk.org.uk and when you realise what you can achieve by just donating some of your time, all of us should be looking for a walking partner.
