’3 simple steps’ campaign for prostate cancer awareness launched

March isn’t only the third month of the year, it is also prostate cancer awareness month, and Men Matter have launched their ’3 simple steps’ campaign as part of their continuing efforts to further raise awareness of both this and other potentially fatal male cancers.

As it is one of the biggest killers amongst men, and with many victims dying from it every year in the north west, Men Matter are seeking to break down the barriers of self examination and visiting their doctor.

Whilst women will examine themselves regularly, as far as many male cancers are concerned far too many men have the ‘head in the sand’ attitude.

The 3 simple steps highlighted in Men Matter’s new leaflet provide basic information about self-checking for the 3 male cancers- prostate, testicular and penile. The leaflet aims to provide a simple guide to “what to do next “and can be downloaded from the Men Matter website at www.menmatterappeal.com.

The Men Matter appeal also organises lectures for groups and businesses seeking to educate and look after their own personnel. They feel that by talking to men about the benefits of early diagnosis and the very high success rates with treatment at an early stage, they can save lives in the region. Organisations interested in having such a presentation are encouraged to contact Men Matter via their website contact page.

Men Matter also raises money for research at The Christie’s and is organising a range of fundraising events throughout 2012 with help from Lancashire County Cricket, Real XS radio, GAP Clothing, KRO restaurants and many others.
